Plan daily stages

You are certainly starting your Cuban vacation in Havana, Varadero or near the airport in Holguin. We recommend dividing the itinerary into daily stages of three to five hours per day. Allow about a quarter more time than calculated by route planners, as the clocks simply tick differently in Cuba. You can expect to cover 50 to 90 km per hour. There are now good route planners that also work offline, or even better: simply order our free road map. We can send you the road map free of charge within Germany. Alternatively, it can be collected from our office in Havana's old town. Simply make the appropriate selection during the booking process.

Another important aspect is the search for suitable gas stations during your tour through Cuba. In 2023, a network of gas stations was created where Gasolina Especial can be purchased with card payment. It is advisable to fill up at every opportunity, because depending on the supply situation, the petrol stations reserve the right to dispense only 10 or 20 liters per customer. To familiarize yourself with the area, we recommend spending more than one night in one place. This leaves time for excursions and organizational matters.
